Roast at One Rochester

Kindly note that Roast at 1-Rochester has been replaced  by UNA

I was very impressed with the 5 course dinner served during my ROM at 1 Rochester a couple of months back, hence revisited hoping to have more great food. Diners can choose to dine in an air-conditioned environment in a 1930’s colonial bungalow or outdoors amongst the lush greenery.

The restaurant has a ala carte and a communal dining menu, which was a set menu with an extensive offering of entrée platters, selections of main courses, sides and dessert or cheese platter. The communal dining menu cost $70++ per pax, with a minimum of 2 diners.

The food was decent and service was passable. I was a bit disappointed that the food was not was good as what I had during the ROM, but then again the ROM meal cost about $130++ per pax

It was my birthday, so I had to dress up! A unique Martina pink dress for this special occasion.

Close up of the Martina pink flower design. Although the label recommends hand washing, machine wash has not damaged it XD

Meh complimentary bread

Twice-baked gruyere soufflé (serves two). I found this too cheesy and heavy. Should have ordered the nibble platter instead 🙁The soufflé was served with mushroom and bacon salad and apple and pecan salad. The salads were light, refreshing and yummy.

Roast cod fillet and prawn, green pea mash, shellfish sauce. This was pleasant, but was not as good the cod served during my ROM.

Braised Angus short rib with creamy Paris mash potato and buttered baby carrots. Fantastic!

The sides were nothing to shout about: Cauliflower cheese gratin, ‘Roast’ rosemary potatoes,Herbed leaf salad.I was looking forward to desserts but they were mediocre.
