Yan Ting, located on the second level of St Regis Hotel, is well known for serving the best dim sum in Singapore. The award winning establishment is one of the more authentic Cantonese restaurants providing diners with top notch fine dining experience. This is the to visit if you are looking to impress, or to savor dim sum delicacies.A tastefully decorated corridor leads to the main dining area; with paintings of spring, summer, autumn and winter at the end of the room. Reservation is a must as seats are limited; I even called to book in March for a table in August, as I didn’t want to take any chances for this birthday occasion.
Yan ting offers a few curtained semi private tables which are great for romantic dates; most of the seats are concept ones At first glance, many would think the price of $98++ for a buffet is pricey. I find price is reasonable for the quality of fresh ingredients and perfect preparation of such delectable food. We enjoyed a 25% discount off the bill thanks to the Supper club membership. Service however, is lacking for a 5 star hotel mainly due to lack of manpower. The staff were diligent with manners no one can fault, but were overwhelmed by the heavy workload. At times, it was difficult to catch the staffs’ attention. I had a similar experience at The Drawing Room (lobby at St Regis) that I would blog about later. St Regis should really look at employing more staff; their service standard pale in comparison to The Regent, Mandarin Oriental and Ritz Carlton.
My next post would feature pictures and reviews of the 28 dishes we tried: Yan Ting Part 2.
