Mandarin Oriental Wedding Dinner Review

Mandarin Oriental Hotel is well known for its delicious food and impeccable service. My husband and I were very pleased with the whole wedding experience. Our guests were very impressed with the food and the service.

Some examples of first class service:

The hotel assigns a “maid in waiting” to every Bride so the jie meis can sit back and enjoy the dinner. This is unique and I have yet to come across any other hotels that provide personal assistant service during my search for a wedding banquet venue.

My assistant was very conscientious. When I forgot to place my napkin on my lap before eating, she hurriedly placed it on for me. When I dropped food on my napkin, she was quick to replace it. She was by my side all the time to carry my train, even when I went to every table to take pictures; she would move away once I am in position and come back again to carry the train when I proceeded to the next table. When I broke my nail, she rushed to a nail salon in Marina Square to buy nail glue.  2 thumbs up! Gave her a big tip too 🙂

While waiting for me to get changed in the wedding suite, I told her to have a seat on the living room sofa, but she stood by the main door. I felt quite bad; but she said these are the rules she has to follow.

Hubby had a cold,the Banquet Manager instructed the wait staff to serve him warm honey lemon drink at all times.

My friends feedback to me that their beverages were replaced every time the glass was half full, seems its Mandarin Oriental’s practice not to let guests drink watered down beverages.

Mandarin Oriental takes painstaking care in their wedding banquet service up to the tiniest detail that most people may not even notice. I observed that most of the time, during “table group” photos, most tables are left in a mess; tissues and opened wet tissue wrappers lying on the table, spoiling the group picture. For Mandarin Oriental, the dinner table is free of rubbish, plates and cutleries are arranged neatly.

Now, for the food! Many guest complimented the food was superb and the servings were generous.

2 canapes were served during the cocktail period. Tuna with sauteed vegetables and Prawn with Caviar.

Mandarin Oriental Lobster and Prawn with Seafood Roll/ Roasted Pork/Deep fried Seafood Roll/Prawn Salad/Double Boiled Shark’s Fin Soup with Chicken and Conpoy.I heard from my Bethany(wedding coordinator) that Mandarin Oriental would cease serving Shark’s Fin soon.

Stir-fried Scallop in XO sauce with Deep-fried Yam Apple

Roast Duck with House Special Sauce

Braised Baby Abalone and Dried Mushroom with Seasonal Vegetables

Baked Fillet of Cod in Superior Teriyaki Sauce

Deep Fried Spare Ribs Glazed with Honey.

Crispy Mini Buns with Chilli Crabmeat Sauce. At first I was worried that the Chilli crabmeat sauce would be too spicy for children but Bethany said that it is not spicy and suitable for kids.

    May i ask if the mocktail area is stand alone instead of sharing with other wedding? And do u have photo on mocktail area? I haven been to mandarin oriental before. Thanks.

      Hi Hui Li,

      Because all the ballrooms are at different areas of the hotel, you’ll have your own private mocktail receiption area for your guests

      Hi Judy, sorry I have no idea 🙁
      But from what I heard there is only a small group of staff who are handpicked by the hotel to be Bride’s assistant and they are all experienced.
