Afternoon tea at Brasserie Les Saveurs Part 1

00-tileeW, M and myself have a weakness for desserts, hence we always look forward to our afternoon tea sessions! This time we tried Brasserie Les Saveurs at St Regis Hotel. I had a good impression of their desserts when I came for the set lunch a few months ago.

The semi-buffet afternoon tea cost $56++ on Mondays to Fridays and $66++ on Saturdays. For a glass of champagne, just add $10. I think its a bit pricy for a semi-buffet afternoon tea when The Regent (part 1, part 2) and Ritz Carlton (see here and here) are charging about $48++ for a weekend buffet afternoon tea with a better quality and spread. However, both hotels do not possess ambiance nor opulence like St Regis.

Update 28/5/2014: The buffet has been updated. Click here to viewthe new spread and tea dance available on Saturdays

As we went on a weekday, there were not many other diners around hence it was very quiet, which is great for catch up sessions. On Saturdays, a dancing instructor would be present, along with a live band. I dislike the timing of the afternoon tea (3-5pm), I wish its an hour longer so I can enjoy the food and chat at a more relaxed pace.

The afternoon tea boasts an impressive scone bar with sweet and savory scones, three-tiered tray of hot savory items and sandwiches, plus a spread of 15 desserts. The scone bar and dessert table are served buffet style, while the three-tiered tray is non-refillable. The food on the three-tired tray was absolutely boring, so we were fine with the fact we can’t have more helpings.

We could each choose 1 drink from a selection of 24 TWG blends and of coffee. Teas are refillable, not sure whether coffee is….13-tile

While waiting for the three-tired tray to arrive, we wasted no time and made a beeline for the scone bar. I wanted to keep space for the desserts; hence I only ate a bit of scones. On the whole, the scones were buttery and had melt-in-the mouth consistency.02-tile
