W discovered We Are the Furballs, a Taiwanese style café with 5-6 small dogs for patrons to play with. W is a dog lover, so she was thrilled to visit this café.
We Are the Furballs (WTF) café is 2-story shop house located at 45 East Coast Road. Entrance fee from Mondays to Thursdays is $6.50, which includes 1 standard drink. On Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, eve of public holiday and public holiday, entrance fee is $7.50. Please note that we visited in Dec 2012, prices may have changed since then.
As you can see, the drinks are reasonably priced. I think it’s quite a good deal because the café does not limit the time you can spend with the dogs.
The cafe offers a small selection of 3 Taiwanese snacks: salted popper popcorn chicken, french fries and tea egg. If you wish to order the snacks, do note that you can only dine at level 1, which is not air-conditioned.
We ordered and paid for our drinks at the counter and proceeded upstairs. On the way, we saw posters of the dogs, which got us quite excited. The first dog’s expression is quite scary, but in fact she is very friendly, as you will see from my pictures later on. W TOTALLY fell in love with Bui Bui!
There are quite a number of rules customers need to adhere to. The more important ones are:
-Do not feed the dogs
-Place your drink on the table, out of reach from the dogs
– You can only carry the dogs, if you are seated on the FLOOR. A staff informed us previously, a customer carried Yuki-Chan while sitting on the stool and dropped her. Poor Yuki-Chan injured one of her legs and had to be in a cast.
The second level is air conditioned, furnished with small wooded stools and white chairs. Although they were not the most comfortable thing to seat on, I was glad I didn’t need to sit on the floor. Why? Because the dogs poop and pee whenever and wherever they want! Customers can press a buzzer and staff will promptly appear to clean up the mess .I wish WTF can toilet train their dogs though.
This is Mochi, the maltese. She is either in a foul mood or is not feeling well because she hid here and refused to come out. When M tried to stroke her, Mochi barked fiercely. By the way if you would like to check out pictures of cute maltese and poodles, check out my blog post here. Recently, my cousin’s maltese gave birth; I went gaga over them and took loads of pictures here.

Slinky looks soooo upset that Duchess emerged the winner.

“Please help me get the ball” *Sad puppy eyes*
That’s not every helpful, M, you were supposed to give the ball to Slinky!
