SK-II Cellumination Deep Surge Ex Review

I ‘m into my 2nd tub of this daily moisturizer and so far so good! SK-II Cellumination Deep Surge Ex is an advance whitening and brightening product, containing Pixel-white TM to suppress melanin, plus an active whitening ingredient De-Melano P3C to correct yellow skin tone. It also contains the famous anti-aging ingredient, Pitera, to maintaining youthful complexion.

I would describe the texture as gel-cream, with a pearlescent gleam. It’s not greasy, heavy or oily. Because it’s very hydrating and spreads with ease, you only need a small amount. The instructions on the box states to use 1.5cm in diameter but I find 1cm suffice. The product absorbs readily, leaving my skin plump and smooth.

I apply this as a day moisturizer, before applying makeup. The product is meant for night-time use; however, due to the fact that it’s not hydrating enough for my skin, I use this in the day and SK-II Stempower Cream at night.

Personally, I find the brightening and pigmentation lightening benefits subtle. Perhaps results are sub-optimal because I am not applying it at night. I’m currently on the lookout for better (and hopefully more wallet-friendly) day moisturizers.  But because I have yet to find another moisturizer that feels comfortable on the skin and hydrates as well, I’ll stick to SK-II Cellumination Deep Surge Ex. Will update if I find something more cost-effective.

Oh, how I wish that the packaging comes as a pump bottle and not a tub. It’s so troublesome to wash and dry the spatula before scooping up the cream. I even go so far as to dry the spatula with a tissue to minimize contamination to this pricy cream.

Update 22th May 2014: I’m now using Hada Labo gel moisturizer during daytime and alternating Cellumination Deep Surge Ex and Stempower cream every night. While the Cellumination Deep Surge EX is not as moisturizing as I would’ve like it to be, the brightening effects is noticeable next morning (slight glow). After 2 months, I have yet to observe any  improvement to pigmentation, and I am considering adding an anti-pigmentation treatment to my regimen. Pls leave a comment if you have any recommendations 🙂

I personally like the deep surge ex cream better because it has anti-aging and brightening properties 🙂
I’ve stopped using the stempower cream as I realized it clogs my pores.
