Afternoon Tea at Arteastiq

Update 26/03/2016: To read more about Arteastiq revamped afternoon tea set here

J, my friend from Perth came to town for a visit. I brought her to Arteastiq since we both had cravings for afternoon tea. This is my second visit to the chichi Arteastiq ( had breakfast the first time) and I must say this is a lovely place to chill out and have long conversations, over excellent beverages and fragile treats.

Art lovers, you will be glad to know that there is an art studio right next door, where you can purchase blank canvas and spend hours unleashing your artistic flair, whilst sipping on Arteastiq’s fantastic range of beverages. Unlimited acrylic paint, sponges, brushes and paint palettes are provided.

Afternoon tea set ($48) includes 2 beverages and nibbles served on a 2-tiered stand. J was overwhelmed the extensive tea menu, and didn’t know which tea to select. She finally chose Iced Pomelo Tea, my perennial favorite. I never fail to order this gorgeous tea whenever I visit any establishment under the Arteastiq group, namely Tea Bone China and Museo. Unfortunately for me, because of a cough, I settled for hot pomelo tea instead.

Food servings wise, I was initially disappointed as I expected more (because I am used to seeing more food at other afternoon tea places). But upon reflection, this is considered a good deal. Since the teas are worth $11 each, I should only expect $26 worth of food and for this price, the food’s quantity and quality exceeded my expectations.

Service however, was a letdown, but I don’t blame the staff. Although it was a weekday, there were 4 other tables occupied, but only one wait staff on duty. The poor girl looked totally stressed out and was understandably grumpy.

Let’s move on to pictures and details on the food, shall we?

The bottom tier consisted of Atlantic smoked salmon, Smoked turkey ham, spicy jumbo Top Shell with chilli mango achar, Crab meat salad served with volvant.

Crispy wraps and cakes sit on the top tier. For the wraps, you have a choice of Crab salad, Atlantic smoked salmon, Smoked turkey ham or Roast beef. As for the cakes, there are only 2 options, orange or apple.

When I first bit into the crab meat salad sitting in the buttery melt-in-the-mouth volvant, I was glad we choose this filling for our wraps. The crab meat salad was no doubt, the highlight of this 2-tiered set. Moist and fluffy orange cake was satisfactory; however, I can’t help wishing more attention was given to the variety of sweets.

Early reservations recommended on weekends as most of the time, it’s fully booked
