Start your Sundays right with a scrumptious brunch! Located at Capri by Fraser at Changi City, contemporary designed Caprilicious sits modestly without airs. From now until the end of November, the restaurant whips up an impressive range of quality offerings at wallet-friendly $58++. We ate so much that I nearly rolled home, but there were still so many dishes I wanted to try!
What’s Sunday brunch without bubbles? Diners can enjoy free flow champagne (Laurent Perrier), house pour wines (Indomita), cocktails, plus juices and soft drinks along with the buffet spread.
Let run along to the food, shall we? Salad section includes DIY salad station, Potato Salad with Onions, Pan seared Ahi Tuna with black olives & tomatoes, Mozzarella Cheese with tomatoes & basil and Hearty Cobb salad (not pictured).
Truffle scented mushroom soup. I would’ve preferred this with more prominent truffle flavour and less cream.
Every self-respecting buffet will offer fresh seafood and Caprilicious is no different. Choose from Baby Lobsters, Crabs, Tiger Prawns, New Zealand Green Mussels, Peruvian Half Shelled Scallops, Canadian Oysters. Hubby is a huge fan of the sea and particularly enjoyed the Norwegian Salmon, Ahi Tuna and Octopus Sashimi. My personal favourite was the crabs-juicy succulent and very sweet. Ooolala!
Mains counter features Crackling Pork Roulade with apple compote & plum sauce, Veal Bratwust & Chicken Bockwurst Sausages, Spiced Potato Wedges with Cheese Sauce, Hong Kong Style Seafood Egg Noodle, Nasi Goreng Kampung and Wok Fried Vegetables with Hoisin Sauce. There is no doubt that the Steamed Chilean Seabass is the star- lightly accented with Yuzu sauce to bring out the pristine flavour of the fish.
Fans of breakfast fare will be delighted with Egg Benedict on Broiche Roll and Flaky Teriyaki Salmon Croissant.
A short stroll across the lobby leads to the Outdoor Live BBQ Station. Select from Otak Mackerel, Sambal Stingray, mini Wagyu patties (served with sesame bun, teriyaki sauce, coleslaw) and Garlic Rosemary Lamb Cutlets.
I know most people will skip pasta at a buffet but the pasta station here is worth a go. Omelettes, scrambled and fried eggs with a variety of toppings are prepared upon request.
Meat-lovers can get their carnivorous fix at the carving station featuring BBQ Beef Striplion, served with honey mustard, baby potatoes and asparagus.
At the Cheese station, you can find Brie, St Paulin, Bresse Bleu and Goat Cheese, accompanied with dried fruits, grapes and Water Crackers.
Finally, satisfy your sweet tooth with an array of sweet treats! My favourite was the flavorful Durian Pengat.
Almond Longan Jelly, Mango Mousse, Raspberry Jelly, Dark Chocolate Fudgy and Tiramisu.
Assorted macarons and Nonya Kueh
Yam Paste with Chia seed and Durian Pengat in shot glass.
Wild Berry Crumble and Peach Jalousie.
Ah yogurt, FRESH yogurt! Yummmsss! Yes, I am that blatant for my love of this healthy dessert. Don’t forget to try the chocolate fondue and waffles too!
Parents will be please to know that a play corner is available to keep their children occupied. Here, kids can look forward to colouring activities, cartoon shows as well as Xbox 360 console games.
After our meal, we went exploring the hotel. This is the Studio Terrace (52sqm-70sqm), the largest room, equipped with a walk-in-wardrobe, huge bathroom, kitchenette, Nespresso machine and a large fridge. Spend idyllic evenings relaxing on the massive hammock in your private terrace.
Many thanks to Shi Lin, Joshua and Caprilicious for the invite.
