Black Chicken Remedies

As a busy working woman in Singapore, my skin is often exposed to oxidative stress caused by external aggressors like UV rays and pollutants, causing it to look yellowish and tired. I visited beaute by Kew to check out her new Australian Black Chicken Remedies facial which promises to renew, re-balance and re-energize the skin, body and senses.

Why the quirky name Black Chicken Remedies? It was inspired by an ancient crone, Black Chicken, renowned for her healing powers. Founder Chey Birch has been experimenting with pure ingredients and aromatherapy for the past 25 years and in 2007, a natural skincare brand was born. Finally it has reached Singapore’s shores- you can find Black Chicken Remedies at beaute by Kew.

Through the power of 100% natural ingredients, Black Chicken remedies benefits are absorbed by the skin, as well as the olfactory system. The fragrance itself reduces stress and is a powerful activating factor. These organic skincare products improve dehydrated and problem skin with potent anti aging benefits from certified aromatherapy oils and plant exacts.

Each bottle is handmade with love using natural ingredients, excluding parabens, petrochemicals or artificial ingredients.

The facial started with Black Chicken Remedies Cleanse My Face ($84), a deeply calming oil cleanser that uses 14 medicinal oils to target impurities deep within the skin. It works great as a makeup removal too.

Following that, the skin was gently scrubbed with Complexion Polish ($56.70) with Cleanse My Face as base. This powder does contain any additives or plastic micro beads.

With firm lifting strokes, Lily Kew (founder and senior facialist at beute by Kew)  and  performed a facial massage with Love Your Face Serum ($110.25), a highly-concentrated anti-aging serum with a myriad of skincare benefits. Not only does it boost moisture levels, it nourishes the complexion, leaving it plump, dewy and more youthful. Thanks to it’s light-weight texture and small molecules, it’s readily absorbed by the skin, penetrating and delivering nutrients and anti-oxidants effectively. The serum does not make you oily, it regulates your own oil production and have a balancing effect.

While reaping the deep cleansing and anti aging benefits of Cacao Revelation Mask, (available in salons only), Lily knead away all the knots in my shoulders and back with Love Your Body Oil ($96.20), an award-winning hydrating and invigorating multipurpose body boasting ingredients such as; avocado oil for moisturizing dry, mature and climate damaged skin, rosehip oil for tissue regeneration in treating burns, scars and stretch marks and hazelnut oil for stimulating the circulatory system and helping to tone and tighten the skin. Other lovely ingredients include vitamin E oil, coconut oil, sandalwood, geranium bourbon, patchouli, lavender, carrot, ylang ylang and nutmeg essential oils.

After the mask was removed, generous amounts of Hydrate My Face ($54.60) was patted onto the skin. Elements include Grapefruit and Chamomile water to soothe and hydrate skin, Witch Hazel to tone and re-balance skin, Lavender for anti-inflammatory action and Mandarin to even out skin tone.

Not forgetting my fatigue eyes, Lily applied ICU eye serum ($107.80) which improves elasticity and helps regenerate healthy skin cells, calming and smoothing the delicate under-eye area

After the facial, my skin feels intensely hydrated, soft, and complexion is visibly brighter. It was an immensely comforting and multi-sensory experience, with natural fragrance from the aromatherapy ingredients flooding my senses each time a product is applied on the skin.

Other products available at beaute by Kew are Balm of All Ages ($56.70) and Love Your Body Polish ($48.30)
