Afternoon Tea Buffet @ The Rose Veranda

2 years ago, I was certainly not impressed with Rose Veranda’s afternoon tea offerings-only some items in the buffet line was worth a praise, while everything else was in a lackluster state of mediocrity. This time, my experience was a pleasant surprise that totally changed my opinion of Rose Veranda; there was a marked improvement not only in the variety, flavor and quality of the nosh, but also the service.

Upon seated, we were served a refreshing glass Rose Iced Tea and creamy Pumpkin Puff Soup, which is included in the buffet.

We then proceeded to browse the extensive TWG tea menu, organised into herbal, pu’erh, blue, white, green and black tea categories. After much deliberation, we finally settled for Sakura! Sakura! Tea (cherry blossoms and green tea), Imperial Rose (white tea handcrafted into bouquet of roses), and Eau Noire Tea (black tea with lavender and fragrant flowers).

As there were so many dishes and desserts to try, I was selective with my choices so as to not burst the tummy. Yes, you’ll be spoilt for choice and i doubt you’ll be able to try everything. After the Sushi Bar, the savoury buffet line began with Gluten-free Butter Garlic Rice, Har Kaw, Chicken Siew Mai, Crystal Vegetable Dumpling, Vegetable Spring Roll and Baked Vegetable Curry Puff.

My first plate consisting of:
-Fork tender Parchment baked Garoupa with dill and citrus butter
Braised Duck with Plum and Peanut sauce, which was too tough.
Spinach and Ricotta ravioli
Herb Cream Cheese Sandwich with chopped pecan nut
Sliced Cucumber Sandwich with rocket, cream cheese and dill
-Turkey Ham, Cheese and Tomato Sandwich; a classic combination that can’t go wrong

The second plate comprises of:
Chilled Ratatouille Salad
-Unique Curried Apple and Arugula Sandwich
-Comforting Egg Mayo, Cucumber and Watercress Sandwich
Mortadella and Waldorf Salad Tortilla Wrap
Herb crushed potato
-succulent and flavoursome Garlic Butter Prawns with fresh herbs

Mee Siam

The Roasted Lamb was outstanding; juicy and tender, it was bliss with every mouthful. It was so fantastic, I had 4 servings.

The sweet section itself is a sight to behold. Apart from the eye-catching chocolate fondue centerpiece, the the counter was also filled with exquisite treats. Both shelves at each side are packed with appealing cakes.
