Yikes! It been a week since my last post, wasn’t feeling too well hence spend most of the time sleeping. Hope I’ll get better this week. Anyways, here’s another food post 🙂

After a full day tour of the Great Ocean Road and Twelve Apostles, we were too exhausted to venture out for dinner, so we settled for our hotel’s in-house restaurant, Spoonbill.


The venue is extraordinary. The designers used a combination of new and recycled pieces to construct this rustic yet dramatic ambience.

Hitting all the right spots, the Kinkawooka Mussels (AUD 17) with Heirloom tomatoes swam in a chilli herb broth with mild heat and layered flavours which enticed our taste buds to no end.


What a glorious pasta! The al dente Spaghettini (AUD 28) tossed in extra virgin olive oil was abundantly littered with succulent Blue Swimmer Crab and fresh tomato. A squeeze of kaffir lime and mild heat from chilli elevate the comforting dish.


Asian flavours blossom in the Aylesbury Duck (AUD 37). The tender seared duck breast soaked up the flavoursome oyster broth which burst in the mouth with each bite. Dumplings, wild mushroom and bak choy accompany the bird.


Our side, Broccoli (AUD 8) was amazingly soft and appealing. Smoked almond and sea salt breaks the monotony of the healthy greens.


Overall, we enjoyed dinner at Spoonbill. My only gripe is that the Aylesbury Duck is too pricey for the modest serving and average (it’s decent, but not spectacular) execution.
