Bali’s equivalent of Singapore’s Antoinette, Angelita Tea Salon and Patisserie, in soft Tiffany blue and white wall panels, is every bit French. Once we stepped in, we were wowed by its abundance of charm, plus dazzling display of glistening pastries and bread.
We soothed our dry throats with Iced Lemon Tea (Rp 25,000) and Iced Green Apple Tea (Rp 25,000). The latter was prepared with generous portions of freshly diced apple, making it delightfully refreshing.
We tried the Chocolate Tart (Rp 32,000), Passion Fruit Tart (Rp 30,000), Mango Tango (Rp 38,000) and Salted Caramel Eclair (Rp 32,000).
All were lovely, except for the Salted Caramel Eclair, which was overly salty. When it comes to tarts, the short crust pastry is equally important as the filling; both the Chocolate and Passion Fruit Tart could have been better if their bases were more buttery. The Mango Tango’s sweetness was just right and the coconut flakes added texture to the otherwise lusciously smooth mousse.
Apart from pastries and in-house baked breads, the kitchen also offers all-day breakfast, entrees, soups, light bites and main courses. On weekends, Angelita Patisserie serves quintessential 3-tired afternoon tea sets. Prices are subjected to 10% government tax and 5% service charge.
