It’s now easier to satisfy one’s Mexican cravings with Mex Out’s new outlet at Marina Bay Financial Centre. The casual Mexican restaurant takes pride in its unpretentious Fresh-Mex offerings, which are kind to the wallet.
We eased into the evening with a manson jug of Margarita ($14). While sipping on the refreshing cocktail, we can’t help but notice that this is a great place to chill out after a hard day’s work. Mex Out’s industrial décor is liven up with pops of colour and fun wall paintings, and the atmosphere is energised with loud, upbeat music.
If you’re feeling peckish after sundown, Mex Out has 7 Mexican tapas to graze on, in addition to wholesome Chips and Guacomole ($6), a healthy snack which is available all day. The night bites can be ordered individually or mixed -and-match in sets of 3 for $21+, 5 for $30+ or 6 for $35+.
These lightly breaded and fried Stuffed Jalapenos ($7/4 pcs) look absolutely harmless but its fiery heat kicked in after a few seconds. The Mexican peppers were stuffed with delectable pulled pork and served with chipotle aioli dip. This tapas did a good job of awakening our taste buds.
Feeling carnivorous? Go for the Sliced Steak and Chilli Jam ($9). Each bite of the tender New Zealand flank steak is laced with smokiness and char. These were made even more awesome with robust spiced chilli jam.
The Mex Out Wings ($6/4 pcs) won us over with its impeccable blend of appetizing spices. Home-made lime and coriander hot-sauce add finishing touches to the juicy, char-grilled chicken wings.
Other appealing tapas include Pulled Pork Empanadas ($7/ 3pcs) – tender and juicy pulled pork encased in parcels of golden pastry paired with tangy chimichurri and Fish Taco ($6/ pc)- crisp golden batter snapper fillet with homemade chipotle slaw, hubbed by a corn taco.
Mex Out gives diners the opportunity to create customized burritos, rice bowls, tacos and salad bowls. Here’s our refreshing yet gratifying salad bowl consisting of fresh iceberg lettuce, beans, salsa, light cilantro dressing with tender marinated NZ flank steak, crowned with a dollop of guacamole.
If you’re in a hurry or can’t make up your mind, there’re popular recipes on menu board to select from. Once such crowd favorite is Most Popular which is essentially char-grilled chicken thigh with homemade Tex-Mex dry rub (lemon, paprika, black pepper), Mexican rice, black beans and Pico de Gallo Salsa wrapped in soft flour tortilla. Delicious!
Mex Out also offers healthy breakfast options complete with Sarnies coffee to jumpstart your day. Do note that breakfast is only served at the MBFC outlet, from 8am to 11am daily.
Many thanks to Phish Communications and Mex Out for the invite.
