J65 Buffet @ Hotel Jen Tanglin

Recently launched last month, the newly re-opened Hotel Jen Tanglin’s all day-dining restaurant J65, offers diners a tantalising buffet at affordable nett prices.

J65, a name inspired by Singapore’s international dialling code, unveils a fresh take on all-day dining with authentic Southeast Asian Cuisine, set in appealing decor to emulate the atmosphere of a gourmet farmers market.

We visited on a Wednesday during dinner, and was amazed at the assortment of food and desserts , all available for only $58 nett. It’s no doubt that J65 buffet is exceptionally value for money!

The salad bar offers 6 varieties of greens. My favourite would definitely be the Prawns and Tomatoes!

Every self-respecting buffet will offer sashimi and seafood on ice and J65 is no different. Their freshness was indisputable. I especially fancy the Boston Lobster Claw, which was remarkably sweet and succulent.

The hot dishes station features South East Asian classics and buffet favourites. Diners can look forward to Braised Pork Ribs with Fermented Black Beans, Wok-fried Eggplant, Ladyfinger & Dried Shrimp Chilli, Fish Curry, Palak Paneer, Kum Hiang Clam and Beef Short Ribs with Polenta. Other dishes not pictured include Indian Mutton Broth, Minestrone Soup, Bitter gourd with Vegetarian Chicken, Braised Angel Luffa, Carrot & Glass Noodles and Fried Squid with Celery, Kueh Pie Tie, Ngoh Hiang and Fried Squid.

The Roast Section is a feast to the eyes! Select from Baked Salmon, Roast Beef, Pork Loin and Bone Lamb.

They’re 2 live stations available- Singapore Chicken Rice and Noodle Station, which offers 6 different variants of Laksa (Singapore, Penang, Johor, Thai Curry and Sarawak).

I didn’t get to try the Cheese Station as I wanted to save tummy space for the enticing dessert table. My top picks are the Yuzu Mousse Cake and Matcha Cheesecake.

Aren’t these chilled dessert jars cute?  Options include Osmanthus Jelly, Strawberry Pudding, Rainbow Cake, Coffee Caramel, Black Sesame Jelly and Brownies.

Ice Cream is presented in a thoughtful manner, pre-scooped, so as to save diners from struggling with the ice cream tubs and sticky scoops.

Grab a cuppa from the coffee machine or a glass of juice to go with your meal.

Now, you can see why I over-ate! Too much temptations in one place!

Weekday lunch at J65 comprises of a diverse mix of deli style food perfect for healthy business lunches. For those who need something more substantial, a variety of hot dishes, 6 variants of Laska and Hong Kong BBQ are also available.

Seafood lovers should visit from during dinner from Thursday to Saturdays, when you can anticipate additional dishes such as soup-baked cumin red mullet, lobster bisque, poach sweet clams and grilled sea bass.

Indulge on Sundays with J65’s Champagne Brunch, with free-flow champagne, wine, beer and cocktails, accompanied with live DJ performance.
