Dining at Orchard Road CAN be affordable- take advantage of the selection of attractive GSS Orchard deals specially curated by HungryGoWhere.
We went on a food trail to experience the variety of cuisines included in the promotion. First up, is Indocafe, a modern Peranakan restaurant housed in a colonial bungalow.
Yearning for Penang food? There’s no need to travel all the way to Malaysia to satisfy your cravings thanks to Indocafe’s Penang Ala Carte Buffet, available on weekdays ($29++) for both lunch and dinner, and all day on weekends and public holidays ($33++). Those who have smaller appetites may take interest in the 3-course set lunch, served on weekdays ($19.90).
Our top picks are:
Belachan Kay-shrimp paste deep fried chicken
Sotong Panggang (grilled marinated squid with homemade sambal) , which was immensely tasty.
Otak Klasik. A twist from the usual otak wrapped in banana leaves, this rendition features barramundi fish fillet nestled in steamed egg custard. This is a dish reminiscent of the Japanese chawanmushi, but much more flavorsome.
Both the desserts we tried, Bubur Cha Cha and Iced Chendol were pure bliss. I was so reluctant to share, but imagine how much more calories I’d be consuming if I didn’t. And there are still two more stops on the food trail that we needed to complete >_<.

Next, Australian cuisine at The House OF Robert Timms. Here, diners can enjoy 50% off second main courses and desserts on the Ala Carte Menu.
Robert Timm’s Fish and Chips ($25.50) will appeal to both the young and old. Victoria bitter beer-battered snapper, fried crisps, leans on a bed of shoe-string fries. The flaky and moist fish is accompanied with traditional coleslaw and tartar dip.
From the grill, we had Aussie Baby Ribs ($28) which exudes a smoky char. The tender baby ribs, slathered with house-made special sauce, made it all the more enticing.
For the extra rendezvous, Robert Timm’s Ultimate Fry-Up ($25) will do the trick. Diners can customize the breakfast plate according to their preferences, by choosing from a selection of eggs, proteins and veggies.

Our final destination was Nassim Hill Bakery Bistro Bar. We arrived at about 9pm and I was surprised how crowded it was on a weeknight-it was boisterous! The promotion here? Buy any 3 dinner mains and get the 4th one free. You’ll be glad to know that Nassim Hill Bakery Bistro Bar closes late (11 pm from Tuesday to Saturdays) , so if you need a supper venue with great food and drinks, this is the place!
We sample their signature Cheddar Cheese Bacon Waffles ($19), where the melted cheese and bacon bits are baked into the waffle, crimped in the griddle so immaculately, that the exterior boasts an irresistible crisps texture. The delectable, savory waffles could get a little heavy after a couple of bites ,thankfully, the chef has cleverly included chives sour cream on the side to lighten the monotony.
The Chilli Crab Pasta ($25) was commendable too; great for peeps who wish to enjoy Singapore’s national seafood dish without the mess. Al dente spaghetti is doused in spicy and tangy chilli crab sauce, then crowned with chucks of succulent crab flesh. What’s there not to love?
