Home-grown bakery Little House of Dreams has grown from strength to strength. What started as a humble online store in 2008 progressed to a brick and mortar bakery 4 years later, then further expanding into a flagship bakery bistro at Dempsey Hill.
The whimsical venue features a 4-metre long dessert display, as well as plenty of space for children and parents to unwind. The menu not only features kid-friendly items, but also appealing dishes for adults to enjoy.
During the tasting, we sample the new items from the bakery bistro’s latest menu.
Har Cheong Gai is one zi char dish that everyone loves! Little House of Dreams crispy Prawn Paste Chicken Bites proves to be an addictive bowl of comfort. The amount of shrimp paste used was just right, seasoning the meat with sufficient umami goodness, without being overly salty. No pesky bones here to impede the pleasure!
I usually avoid Chilli Crab as they are such a chore to eat. With the Chilli Crab Cakes ($14.90), you can indulge in succulent crustacean flesh and tangy chilli sauce without getting any of your fingers dirty.
Weight watchers will be pleased with the wholesome Quinoa Salmon ($15.90), a healthy grain bowl with grilled salmon and creamy avocado.
The Beef Lasagne ($18.90) is a mouth-watering symphony of marinara ground beef, pasta sheets, oozy cheese and silky béchamel sauce. So good!
If you are feeling extra ravenous, go for the Herb-crusted Lamb Chop ($34.90) where tender lamb racks are coasted in homemade pistachio herb crust. Served with mashed potatoes and 3 sauces- red wine, mint and rosemary aioli.
We also tried the Bulgogi Rice Bowl ($21.90) which was rather average in my opinion. I recommend spending on the other items mentioned above.
Little House of Dreams cakes and pastries are so pretty, I can’t help but snap away! The Bloom Pots ($7.90) are not only a visual treats, but taste great too. The Sneaker Cheese Cake ($7.90) was a sublime combination of dense cheesecake and sneaker bar pieces while the Lemon Meringue Tart boasts sharp notes that invigorates the senses.
On the first Sunday of each month, Little House of Dreams offers Sunday Buffet Brunch featuring Live Egg & Pancake Stations, DIY Salad Station, mains such as Chipolata Sausages, waffles and desserts such as petite cupcakes and cookies
