Located at Vivocity’s basement 2, casual Italian restaurant Buono Trattoria, brings authentic handmade pizzas and pastas to the masses. The kitchen is helmed by Chef Aloysius Lim, who has more than 20 years of culinary experience under his belt.
The affordable and homey restaurant also serves appealing soups and starters to fire up your appetite before you dive into the gratifying carb offerings.
Tummy-warming goodness come in the form of Cream of Mushroom Soup ($5), prepared with fresh mushrooms in vegetable broth and thinned with cream.
Nibble on Frittura Di Calamari ($12) or some finger-licking good Chicken Wings ($8 for 6 pieces) while waiting for your mains to arrive. The fresh squid rings, coated with batter, are fried till golden and crisps then sprinkled with sweet paprika and fresh herbs for flavour. I highly recommend the juicy chicken wings, which not only boast a tasty exterior, but also, well-marinated flesh.
At Buono Tratorria, pizza dough is made fresh daily in small batches and hand-kneaded with love. We tried the Hawaiian Pizza ($15 for 8 inch and $22 for 22 inch) and you certainly can’t go wrong with this classic flavour. Other flavour options include Diavolo (pork pepperoni, white onion, mozzarella) and Capricciosa ( artichoke, olives, bacon, mushroom and mozzarella), Margherita (mozzarella and oregano) and Vegetariana (mozzarella, mushroom, capsicum, olives and artichoke), all of which are classic Italian favourites with homemade tomato sauce.
Diners can also customise their own creation from $10++ for 8 inch (1-2 persons) and $15++ for 12 inch (3-4 persons).
The first pasta we sampled was the Linguine Chicken & Pesto ($12). The al dente strands of pasta were evenly coated with home-made pesto cream, which was not too grassy nor rich. Perfect comfort lunch for a hectic day at work! Just like the pizzas, pastas can also be customised.
If you prefer something rich and cheesy, there’s Baked Porcini Mushroom Ravioli ($12).
Complete your meal with Panna Cotta with Mango Puree($5) or Tiramisu with marsala wine($8). The Chocolate Profiteroles ($6) will surely be a hit with kids.
I recommend Buono Trattoria for quick and fuss-free meals. Prices are wallet-friendly and service is prompt.
Much love to TheAsiaMedia for the invite and Buono Trattoria for the warm hospitality.
