Located in Park Hotel Clarke Quay, the PORTA Fine Food and Import Company offers modern European cuisine made from scratch using seasonal ingredients.
The interior is spacious and welcoming, with a retail area that stocks gourmet ingredients such as Les Assaisonnments Briards Pommery Mustard and La Chinata Smoked Paprika Powder.
Good news! One does not need to hold out till the weekend to get your brunch fix. PORTA serves brunch plates daily from 8am-4pm.
Tuck into the Croque Madame ($14) a comforting brioche sandwich layered with Mangalica ham, oozing emmental cheese, creamy bechamel, and sunny side up egg.
Love that PORTA offers something different from the usual brunch suspects- Spanish Breakfast ($14), a rustic skillet of cannellini beans and spicy pork chorizo in tomato coulis and completed with baked eggs.
If your visiting for lunch or dinner, PORTA has plenty to offer too! Start the your meal on a healthy note with the Seared Tuna Nicoise Salad ($15), where fresh yellow fin tuna, vine tomatoes and black olives grace a bed of mesclun.
Alternatively, go for the Chilled Angel Hair Pasta ($14), featuring al dente strands of capellini tossed with luxe lobster vinaigrette, adorned with succulent crab meat and pops of salmon roe.
My favourite appetizer was the Spanish Octopus ($18) which was imported from Ria de Arousa. The tentacled creature, seasoned viciously with La Chinata smoked paprika powder, is plancha on a grill for that seductive char.
Calling all carnivores! If you’re feeling extra ravenous, the Porta Burger ($23) will hit all the right spots. The angus beef patty, seared to an admirable brown on the outside, is luscious, tender and juicy. Diners are also treated to a bucket of irresistible French Fries accompanied with Alain Milliat premium ketchup.
Another popular dish that night was the Prawn & Chorizo Pasta ($12). Ribbons of linguine are coated with smoky tomato coulis with a dash of Harissa, completed with crunchy tiger prawns, spicy pork chorizo, parmesan and capers.
Round up your meal with deconstructed take of the classic Italian dessert, Not-Your-Usual-Tiramisu ($12), where creamy tiramisu ice cream is accompanied with coffee gelee, finger biscuit, Khalua and mascarpone cream
On weekdays, PORTA offers two- or three-course set lunches from 12 noon to 2.30pm, at a value for money price of $18++ and $22++ respectively. Diners can look forward to Chilled Angel Hair Pasta with Marinated Crab Meat, Ravioles de Royans and Coconut Blancmange. The set lunch promotion ends on 31 Dec 2017.
Many thanks to Bless Inc Asia and PORTA for the invite.
