It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Soak in the holiday revelry over a festive buffet at one Farrer Hotel & Spa. From now till New Year’s Day 2018, food lovers and look forward to a tantalising spread of Christmas Meats, fresh seafood, Asian Delights and Christmas-themed desserts.
Start light with the refreshing and succulent Kare Crab Bar glittered with capelin roe and sweetened with Granny Smith Apple and berries. Salad enthusiasts will enjoy the Pea Salad, prepared with a variety of peas, asparagus and Scamorza Cheese.
It’s no surprise that the crowd-favourite Salt Encrusted Turkey makes a comeback. This year, the turkey is marinated with Thyme and Oregano harvested from the hotel’s on-site urban farm. The bird is soaked in brine for hours before baking in a salt shell. The result is beautifully moist and tender and flavoursome meat!
Apart from the unique Salt Encrusted Turkey, diners can savour Turkey Penyet with Christmas Stuffing, Pistachio and dried fruits.
Make a beeline for the juicy Roast Prime Ribs rubbed with home grown herbs and grab a few slices of Gammon Ham before heaping on scoops of comforting Squid Ink Risotto with Lobster Bisque.
Round up your meal with desserts such as Jivara Chocolate Hazelnut Buche and Mango Bavarois Buche, both contemporary takes on traditional-styled log cake.
Move onto the fragrant Coffee Stollen with Cranberries & Citrus, Festive English Fruit Cake with Nuts & Brandy infused fruits and Chestnuts & Mixed Nuts roasted in Brick-fired oven.
During the party, we also sampled some Chinese dishes created to welcome the Year of the Dog.
Celebrate abundance with Mini Claypot Peng Chai, brimming with good things such as abalone, prawn and black moss.
The Hong Kong Style Steam Garoupa was commendable too. The uncomplicated style of cooking allowed the pristine and silky flesh of the fish shine.
Don’t forget to check out the Lo Han Chap Chay with dried scallop sauce and Deep Fried Nian Gao
One of the things I love about the Lunar New Year is the endless snacking. I was most impressed with the Salted Truffle Macadamia Nuts, Golden Salted Egg Fish Skin and Bak Kwa Madeleines.
